Bed Frame Basics
There's a lot to think about when you're choosing a bed frame - Ottoman beds, storage options, sizes, upholstery materials like velvet, boucle, and linen-look fabrics. It can feel like a lot, so we've broken it all down in plain English. Whether you're after a king size bed, a super king, or a double with built-in storage, here's what's worth knowing before you pick your perfect bed frame.
Ottoman Beds
An Ottoman bed lifts up on gas-assisted pistons to reveal proper storage space under the mattress - the entire base becomes one big compartment. No need to strip the bed first; it opens easily even fully made up. If your bedroom's short on space and the wardrobe's already full, an Ottoman is well worth considering.
Storage Options
Ottoman bases give you the most room - the full footprint of the bed becomes deep storage, accessed by lifting the mattress. Drawer beds offer less total space but make everyday items quicker to reach, while frames without built-in storage keep a lower, more streamlined look. It comes down to what you need to store and how often you need to get to it.
Bed Sizes Explained
A double is 135x190cm, a king is 150x200cm, and a super king is 180x200cm - all three are available across our range. Before you decide, leave at least 60cm of clearance on each side and at the foot so you can move around comfortably.
Materials & Upholstery
Our frames are upholstered in fabric rather than left as bare wood or metal, giving them a softer, more contemporary feel. Velvet brings rich texture and depth of colour, linen-look fabrics are lighter and more relaxed, and boucle adds a soft, tactile finish without being bold. Think about your existing soft furnishings and how much natural light the room gets - darker fabrics absorb light, lighter ones help a space feel more open.
